Check Eligibility
Confirm your child meets the age and residency requirements for the DeKalb County School District. All DeKalb County residents are eligible to apply.

Submit Application
Complete the open enrollment application online during the March 1 – April 30 application window. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered for the current lottery.

Attend the Lottery
Lottery results are announced in May. Accepted families will receive notification by email and must confirm enrollment by the stated deadline.

Who can apply to D.A.T.E. Academy?
Residency
All current DeKalb County, Georgia residents are eligible to apply for enrollment at D.A.T.E. Academy. Proof of residency may be required upon acceptance.
Age Requirements
Students entering Kindergarten must be 5 years of age on or before September 1. Students entering 1st grade must be 6 years of age on or before September 1. These are Georgia state-mandated requirements.
Grade Levels
D.A.T.E. Academy offers enrollment for students entering Kindergarten through 8th grade.

Everything families need to know
Is everyone accepted who applied during open enrollment?
No. Seats at D.A.T.E. Academy are limited and awarded through a random lottery. All eligible families who apply during the open window receive an equal chance. Families not selected will be placed on a waitlist and notified if seats become available.
When is the lottery held at D.A.T.E. Academy?
The lottery is held in May, after the application window closes on April 30. Families are notified of results by email. A lottery livestream is available on our website for families who wish to watch the drawing in real time.
Is it possible to tour the campus before applying?
Yes — campus tours for prospective families are available during the month of March only. Tours take place on select dates and are open to families who are considering applying. Please turn on your hazard lights upon arrival so our parking attendants can assist you.
How does D.A.T.E. define sibling preference?
Siblings of students currently enrolled at D.A.T.E. Academy receive enrollment preference in the lottery. Both students must reside in the same household and meet all other eligibility requirements.
Is there a registration checklist I need to complete after acceptance?
Yes. Accepted families will receive a registration checklist via email that must be completed by the stated deadline to secure your child’s seat. This includes proof of residency, immunization records, birth certificate, and any other required documentation.
